From 21–22 July 2025, the School of Agro-Industry, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), organised the International Workshop on Joint & Co-Curricular Development to Enhance Global Mobility. This event, part of the MFU Reinventing University 2025 initiative, took place at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort.
The workshop aimed to provide a platform for academic dialogue among curriculum coordinators from over 12 institutions across seven countries. It fostered collaboration to develop joint curricula and co-curricular activities designed to strengthen international graduate competencies and effectively promote sustainable mobility for students and academic staff.
The opening ceremony on 21 July 2025, featured remarks by Prof. Dr. Sujitra Wongkasemjitt, Vice President of MFU, a welcoming address by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sutthiwal Setha, Dean of the School of Agro-Industry, and an overview of the initiative presented by Professor Dr. Saroj Rodkhum, Head of the Reinventing University Project.
A highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between MFU and two leading Indonesian institutions—IPB University and Universitas Brawijaya —as well as Letters of Intent (LoIs) with various international partners to develop future joint academic programmes.
The workshop also brought together experts from Europe, Asia, and ASEAN to share insights through keynote talks and experience sharing. These included:
• Prof. Dr. Pascal Degraeve (Université Lyon 1 – ISARA Lyon, France)
• Prof. Dr. Michiko Takagaki (Japan)
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Young Hoon Jung (South Korea)
• Prof. Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo, Dr. Tunjung Mahatmanto, and Dr. Ahmad Zaki Mubarok (Indonesia)
• Dr. Lương Hùng Tiến (Vietnam)
In addition, representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) joined the discussion to share insights on regulatory frameworks and best practices for international academic collaboration.
On 22 July 2025, participants engaged in brainstorming and group work sessions to co-develop joint undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. Each group presented their proposed programmes to the plenary, receiving feedback from academic experts to refine and prepare for future implementation.
This event, supported by the MFU Reinventing University 2025 Project, the Research Administration Division, the Global Relations Division, and various research centers and academic units of the School of Agro-Industry, marked a significant step in internationalizing MFU’s academic programmes. The initiative emphasizes modern, flexible, and globally responsive education strategies aligned with 21st-century challenges.
